About the problems existing in CNC lathe thread turning and tool setting
1) CNC lathe initial turning clamping tool
When the thread cutter is clamped for the first time, the unequal height of the tip of the thread cutter and the reversal center of the workpiece will occur. It is generally common in welding knives. Because of the rough production and the inaccurate size of the tool shank, the center height needs to be adjusted by adding a shim, and the center is uneven. Influence the practical geometry viewpoint after tool turning. When the tool is installed, the corner of the tool tip is misaligned, and the error of the thread profile angle is prone to occur, and the tooth profile is inclined. If the thread cutter protrudes too long, the cutter will vibrate during processing, which will affect the surface roughness of the thread.
2) CNC lathe rough and fine turning tool setting
In the process of machining high-precision threads and trapezoidal threads, it is necessary to use two thread cutters to separate the rough and fine turning. The large offset of the two tools (especially the Z direction) will cause the thread pitch diameter to become larger and void.
3) Correction of workpiece tool setting
Correction of workpiece tool setting Due to the second clamping of the workpiece, the corrected helix and the encoder one-turn signal have changed, and random buckles will occur when the correction is processed again.
Solutions to the problem
1) The tip of the threading tool must be at the same height as the reversal center of the workpiece. After the tool is sharpened, use the tool setting template against the axis of the workpiece for tool setting, and keep the tool tip angle set correctly. If the tool is clamped by a CNC machine, because the tool holder is made with high precision, it is generally only necessary to hold the tool holder against the side of the tool holder.
2) Set a certain point as the reference point for the rough-finishing thread cutter setting of the CNC lathe, and use the general method for tool setting. In the actual tool setting process, the trial cutting method only needs to adjust the tool compensation slightly.
3) In the thread processing of the CNC lathe, if the tool wears or breaks, it is necessary to re-sharpen the tool and then set the tool. The workpiece has not been removed and corrected, and only the position of the thread cutter device needs to be coincident with the position before removal. , which is equivalent to machining with the same turning tool.
4) If the workpiece that has been removed is corrected, then the correction processing can be performed only after determining the starting point of processing. How to determine the starting point of processing and the direction of the one-turn signal, firstly, the thread turning with a surface depth of 0.05-0.1 mm can be used with a test rod (all parameters). The same as the thread parameters to be machined), Z value is the integer thread lead interval value from the right end face of the starting point of the thread, a spiral line is engraved on the surface, the starting point of thread turning is determined, and a line symbol is marked on the surface of the chuck circle at the corresponding position (even if the engraved line and the The starting point of the helix on the experimental rod is in the same axial section).
The intention is to record the signal position, remove the test rod, and clamp the threaded workpiece to be turned or corrected. When setting the tool, first turn the tool to the machining position, then move the turning tool to the engraved part of the chuck, and roll the chuck. Make the engraved line aligned with the main cutting edge of the turning tool, then the spindle does not roll, move the tool tip to any perfect thread groove, write down the corresponding Z-direction positive coordinates, and finally calculate the Z-direction positioning starting point coordinates of the turning tool, based on the calculation results Correct the Z coordinate of the starting point in the program. The formula is z′=z+(n+2)t, n is the number of thread grooves from the thread groove of the tool point to the thread starting point at that time, and t is the thread pitch.
Example: Assuming that the z value is -10, n is 2, and t is 3, then
z′=z+(n+2)t=2
The Z direction of the new machining starting point is 2.
Tool loading and tool setting are very important in the thread turning process of CNC lathes, especially for secondary turning (correction) threads. To perform thread turning on the basis of existing thread grooves, the key is to ensure the spindle zero signal when completing the machining.
