How to improve the cutting and grooving efficiency of CNC lathes in processing?When machining parts, CNC lathes are the most indispensable process when cutting workpieces, and grooving on workpieces is also the most common. The efficiency of cutting and grooving cannot be separated from the rigidity of the machine tool. The stiffness of the CNC lathe spindle and turret is the main reason that affects the vibration of the workpiece. And the cutting method in cutting and grooving is also the most critical.
Let's discuss how to improve the efficiency of cutting and grooving workpieces from the cutting method.
1. CNC lathe slotting
1) Common methods of turning grooves. Common methods of grooving the surface of workpieces include outer grooves, inner grooves and end grooves.
2) Selection of grooving knife. Generally, high-speed steel grooving tools are used for grooving.
3) The method of turning grooves. For rectangular grooves with low turning accuracy and narrow width, a turning tool with the same width as the groove width can be used, and the straight-forward method can be used to turn it out at one time.
Rectangular grooves with high turning accuracy are usually turned twice. When turning a wide groove, the straight-forward method can be used for multiple cuts, leaving a certain margin on both sides of the groove for finishing, and then finishing to size according to the depth and width of the groove. Turning small arc grooves is generally turned with a forming turning tool; turning larger arc grooves can be done with both hands, and trimming can be checked with a template. Turning small trapezoidal grooves is usually done with forming turning tools; turning large trapezoidal grooves is usually done by turning straight grooves first, and then using the trapezoidal tool to move straight ahead or cut left and right.
4) Inspection and measurement of rectangular grooves. Grooves with low precision are generally measured with steel rulers and calipers. For grooves with high precision requirements, micrometers, templates, plug gauges and vernier calipers can be used to check and measure.
2. Cut with a CNC lathe. A cutting knife is used for cutting. The shape of the cutting knife is similar to a slotting knife, but because of the narrow cutting head, it is easy to break. The cutters include high-speed steel cutters, carbide cutters, elastic cutters, reverse cutters and other types.
There are several cutting methods for CNC lathes:
1) Straight forward method. The cutter feeds and cuts in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece. This method is efficient, but requires higher grinding and clamping requirements for lathes and cutters, otherwise it is easy to cause the cutter head to break.
2) Borrow knives from left to right. In the case of insufficient rigidity of the tool, workpiece and lathe, the method of borrowing the tool can be used to cut off the workpiece. This method means that the cutter moves back and forth in the axial direction repeatedly, and then feeds radially on both sides until the workpiece is cut off.
3) Reverse cutting method. The back cutting method means that the workpiece is reversed and the turning tool is clamped in the reverse direction. This cutting method is suitable for cutting large diameter workpieces. The advantages are: because the cutting force acting on the workpiece is consistent with the direction of gravity of the spindle (downward), the spindle is not easy to jump up and down, the workpiece is cut off smoothly, the chips are discharged downward, and will not get stuck in the groove.
